Intentional approaches to the physical components of a learning environment

Color-Coded Classroom
Keeping track of over 550 students in 26 different classes can be confusing. Through the use of color, students can clearly identify their seating, materials, artwork storage, and line-up position.

Condensing Materials
Putting commonly used drawing materials into one easily-accessible place allows students to have what they need to be creative at all times

Planning for Common Behaviors
One thing is for sure, kids love to tell you when they find something that doesn't belong. With the "Hey! I Found This!" Box, students can take care of any out of place items without disrupting ongoing instruction or work.

Material Design
Young artists have various physical needs. This water cup constructed out of recycled products allows them to transport, use, and refill them easily and with minimal risk of spills.

Designing for Responsibility
Young artists know when their materials are no longer working well, but may not always know what to do with them next. The "Retirement Center" provides students with a process for testing, recycling, and replacing materials without having to create unecessary waste.
